Raquel España
Raquel España has over 20 years of experience in education nonprofits, including with national literacy organizations, library service, and early childhood education. She was the Founding executive Director for the Foundation for San Mateo County Libraries and currently serves as the Executive Director, Northern CA for Facing History and Ourselves. She holds a master’s in education, with an emphasis in equity and social justice from San Francisco State University and is a resident of Daly City.
Karen Bohall
Karen Bohall has been working in the nonprofit sector in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties for over 15 years. She/They currently have a private therapy practice serving LGBTQA+ folx. Karen serves as the Director of Clinical Support for the organization ‘Support for Families’ focused on assisting families of children with disabilities. Karen strives to support children and adults in the community through health and wellness initiatives and bringing awareness to more accessible and affordable mental health services. Karen holds a Master’s in Community Mental Health. She has been as resident of San Mateo County for the past 10 years and currently lives in Daly City. She/They have always had a passion for books and believe that books are a gateway to our heart and soul.

Tanya Beat
Tanya Beat is the director of the San Mateo County Commission on the Status of Women, the LGBTQ Commission, and Domestic Violence Council. as well as works with various county equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Tanya is passionate about the community, coaching, leadership development, equity, books and libraries! Besides herding cats and relaxing with a book or podcast, Tanya contributes time outside work as a Board member of the Foundation for San Mateo County Libraries and the new Peninsula Book Collaborative.
Dorothy Chan
Dorothy Chan is a mother of two sons residing in the Peninsula. She enjoys reading to her kids, working out and being outdoors. In addition to her parenting commitments, she serves on the board of a local parents’ club, contributing to the community. With 15 years of sales experience in the biotechnology industry, Dorothy brings a different perspective to Peninsula Book Collaborative.
Grace Kwon
Grace Kwon is a purpose-driven reinventor, with a deep passion for lifelong learning and personal development that has shaped her career over the past 19 years. She currently works at the Foster City Library, specializing in operations and programming. Before joining the library, Grace held various leadership roles in education and business consulting. She relishes getting lost in a captivating book or podcast and is thrilled to share her love for reading through her involvement on the Board of the Peninsula Book Collaborative.
