Thanks to one our community members (Erica from Rise Above Yourself), we were invited to be a part of Art Yap, a new podcast about the arts and community in the Bay Area.
Listen at the link below to learn more about how Peninsula Book Collaborative started, some book highlights, and how we are intentionally building community through books.
In collaboration with Read any 5 books this summer (one needs be from the Summer Reading Catalog), write a 3-4 sentence review of your favorite, win a prize (a free button). This is for all ages.
You can pick up catalogs and index cards (to share the books you read & write your review) at Peninsula Books. When complete, provide to a staff member for your prize and entry into the book bundles.
Everyone who completes it will also be entered into a book bundle raffle. We will have book bundles for all ages.
Our annual fundraiser is back! This year we will be at the Colma Community Center to celebrate books, community, and raise funds for programming in 2026. We will have food, drinks, silent auction, and more. Throughout the evening, we will lift up the freedom to read by highlighting banned books locally and across the country and providing opportunities to get banned books into the hands of readers.
All proceeds will support free literacy programs and services for the community. Your support will allow us to partner with local schools to provide readings, free books for teachers, and field trips. It will also allow us to continue to offer free programs and activities for all ages.
Friday, September 12 5:30-8:00 pm Colma Community Center (1520 Hillside Blvd, Colma)
Independent Bookstore Day (Indie Bookstore Day) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the Independent bookstore community. The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013. This year, there are over 1,200 stores participating across the country.
In the month of May, we are exploring how building community through books creates kindness and empathy. For K- 8th grade children, we are reaching out to teachers to sign up for a free teacher kit (book and activities) if they commit to reading the book and completing the activity sometime in May.
In the spirit of community, we work with local educators, organizations, and schools to promote and (with your support) fulfill their book wishes. You can find the books they would like and purchase through our Bookshop.org site, individual links below, or at our Westlake location.
February is love your library month and we were so thrilled to be able to donate over $1,500 to the Daly City Public Library Associates (DCPLA) thanks to everyone who has purchased a used book. Each year, a portion of every used book purchased goes to DCPLA to support the libraries and we were proud that you bought enough books to make this donation happen.
We are so grateful to all the book donations we have received over the past year and a half. Due to space concerns, we will need to pause book donations through March 2nd in order for our team of volunteers to catch up, sort and distribute books.
Once we resume, donations will be accepted every Sunday from 10 am -5 pm.
If you have any questions, please reach out to contact@peninsulabooks.org
We have collected over 50 boxes of toiletries, food, and masks and 10 bags of clothes/shoes. Items went to multiple organizations including It’s Bigger than Us, Heritage Clinic, and Chinatown Services Center. Some items were also provided directly to families.

As so many of us who are devastated by the LA fires, we wanted to be able to gather supplies that people will need if they were evacuated or lost their home in the fires. Based on what groups in LA are specifically asking for, we are collecting the following items through 1/19/25:
New toiletries (toothpaste, shampoo, feminine products, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc.)
Check out the Mutual Aid LA Network google doc that may have other ways to help. There are other local drop off locations. Check our Instagram (@peninsulabookcollaboration) for locations.
Thank you so much for the outpouring of support already.
